Turning Two: A Letter To My Son

Happy birthday my little monkey. Mashallah you are two years old now and I can’t even tell you how fast the time has flown by. I can still remember the time when I used to pray to Allah (SWT) for you, to when we found out that you would be making your way into our lives in 9 months. Those 9 months were an exciting time for us, as we were busy getting ready in preparation for your arrival.

I remember how the night before you were born, your Nano and I were discussing all the things that had to be done the next day, the most important task being a manicure and pedicure that I badly needed and how that night your Abbu took like three melatonin’s so he could get a good night’s sleep the last few remaining nights before your arrival, but you had other plans. You made your entry into this world on June 26th at 9:34 am, 12 days before your due date. I guess you wanted to be a June baby instead.

I still remember the moment the doctor laid you on my chest, I was in awe of how perfect you were, Subhanallah! From that day on you have just been our biggest blessing and source of joy, your smile brightens up our day, you have such a loving heart, you are kind, caring, ready to lend a helping hand and always sharing, something we never had to teach you. You are fun, silly and just the best little boy we could have ever asked for.

As you are getting older and more curious about the world and exploring everything there is to see, there are days when all you want to run around, do what your little heart desires and not listen to a word I have to say, on such days I can’t wait for it to be night so I can put you to bed and finally get a moments break, but once you’re gone, your Abbu and I can’t help but talk about you or look at your baby pictures and wonder where our little Boo Boo went and how fast you’ve grown.

We love you so much and have enjoyed every moment of these past two years with you. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things you do in the next year and pray for you to always be happy, healthy, and for success in this life and the next.

Love you always,
Mama and Abbu
