Three years ago today, I jumped back into full-time work after taking a three-year break to stay at home with Shahzaib. And today, I’m taking another step back to spend more time with both my boys. As much as I love my work, it feels like it’s the right time to hit pause and enjoy these moments with them before they grow up too quickly. I’m incredibly grateful to take this time to focus on what truly matters—my family.

Fall is here, and I’m officially ready for all t

Fall is here, and I’m officially ready for all things cozy! It’s time to take out the fuzzy socks and oversized sweaters and snuggle up with all the warm blankets. Who else loves the season as much as I do?

There’s just something about fall that makes it my absolute favorite. Maybe it’s the crisp air, the warm drinks, or just the excuse to slow down and savor the little moments.

Here are my fall-time favorite activities:
Sipping on a cup of warm apple cider or hot chocolate
Getting cozy by the fireplace with a comfy blanket
Watching Hallmark movies once the kids are in bed
Enjoying a bowl of warm, delicious soup
Spending the day apple-picking with the family
Taking the boys to the pumpkin patch
Baking some yummy cranberry muffins
Bringing out all of our Fall decorations to make the home feel extra festive

How is it September already?! It feels like summer

How is it September already?! It feels like summer just started, and now we’re right around the corner from fall. Shahzaib started school last week, and I can’t believe that my baby is in first grade. He also happened to lose his first tooth two days before school started, which makes me want to freeze time even more and hold on to these precious moments.

That being said, one thing I am not looking forward to at the start of the school year is our early morning school routine, which means getting up at 6:30 am so we can be up and out the door by 7:25 am at the latest. This is a struggle for me as I’m a night owl, but a mother’s got to do what she’s got to do. I have some tips that have been helping me stay efficient in the morning so we can get everything we need to do before getting out the door.

1. Take out your child’s school clothes the night before
Shahzaib has a uniform for school, but laying it out the night before, along with his socks and undergarments, helps save time in the mornings.

2. Get your child’s lunch box ready
I typically place Shahzaib’s juice and snacks in his lunch box at night. I’ll also refill his water bottle and put it inside his backpack so we’re not scrambling in the morning trying to find it.

3. Keep breakfast simple
We keep our breakfast options to a minimum; it’s either cereal or toast with butter and jelly unless Shahzaib wants to eat something else.

4. Lunch ideas
Creating a list of easy lunch ideas and referencing them throughout the week helps when you don’t know what to make.

5. Daily chore chart
I created this last year as a way for us to keep track of all the things we need to get done before heading out to school and before bedtime. It allows Shahzaib to go down the list and see what things he has to complete each morning.

6. Get to bed on time
This is probably the most important one, but getting your kids to bed on time is crucial. On days when Shahzaib gets enough sleep, it’s so much easier to get through all our morning tasks before heading off to school.

One thing I’ve realized as a second-time mom is

One thing I’ve realized as a second-time mom is that you don’t need to carry the entire nursery in your car when you head out; not that I was, but I used to overthink and felt the need to keep items that I might need if even the most remote scenario were to come up, which almost never did. This time around, I’m keeping it simple, so let’s see what I keep:

✨Diaper Bag — I opted for the black Itzy Ritzy Dream Convertible bag. I like that I can carry the bag in three different ways: first, with the top handle; second, with the crossbody strap; and third, as a backpack, which is extremely useful if you are spending the day out. It also came with a padded changing pad, which is really nice.

✨ Diaper and wipes — I like to keep at least 5-6 diapers, so I have enough for an entire day out and more. I also keep a packet of wipes. I’ve been liking the Honest Company wipes this time around. I also keep a tube of Aquaphor, which can double as diaper rash cream or be used on my dry hands.

✨ Extra set of clothes — I keep at least one or two additional sets of clothes in case we have a massive blowout and need to change. I also keep a wet-dry bag that can be used to store the soiled clothes so they don’t make the rest of the stuff in the bag dirty. Additionally, I keep an extra pair of socks, bib, a burp cloth, a hat, and a sweater, which nicely fit into my Petunia Pickle Bottom packing cubes.

✨ Nursing cover — It’s nice to have this to cover up in case I need to nurse my son while we are out. It also doubles as a car seat cover to give him privacy and shield him from the weather.

✨ Mom Essentials — I keep a small pouch with essential items I may need, such as cough drops, Tylenol, bandaids, safety pins, extra hair ties, and more. I also keep extra tissues, hand sanitizer, and Lysol wipes.
