This quote gets me every single time. It’s such a powerful reminder of how quickly time flies and how precious the small, everyday moments truly are.

My oldest is only six, but when I look back, I can’t believe how quickly these years have gone by. It feels like I’ll blink, and before I know it, he’ll be graduating from high school. That thought makes me want to hold on to every moment we have with our kids—yes, even the messy, chaotic, “Are we there yet?” kind of moments.

Whether it’s sitting together in the family room on a quiet Saturday evening or enduring a chorus of complaints in the car on the way to dinner, these seemingly mundane experiences are the ones that will stick with me. One day, I know I’ll miss the very moments that used to drive me crazy because they were ours, and they were beautiful in their own way.

Today’s our first day back in the new year, which means that I’m back to packing school lunches. Before winter break, I had a solid rotation of grilled cheese sandwiches, quesadillas, or pasta with fruit or vegetables on the side along with a snack. But now that it’s a new year, I’m trying to step it up with healthier options for Shahzaib to enjoy.

Have you ever wondered how small habits can make a big difference in your life?

My husband has been reading the book Atomic Habits by James Clear, and shared something the other day that really stuck with me: Instead of just setting goals, focus on building small habits. As someone who loves making goals, I was curious about how I could shift my focus to small, daily habits that could help me achieve the lifestyle I want.

Here are some of the habits that I’m working towards:

1️⃣ Staying active – Morning walks (whether it’s solo or with a friend), hitting the gym once or twice a week, and doing HIIT workouts or yoga at home on the other days.

2️⃣ Creating a cleaning routine – I’ve started spreading out my chores throughout the week, so I’m not stressing over cleaning the entire house in one day.

3️⃣ Staying organized – I’m working on having a place for everything and using the “one touch” method so I can just get things done right away.

4️⃣ Embracing new experiences – I’m trying to attend more community events and set up playdates for the kids so we can make new memories and experiences together.

5️⃣ Staying connected with friends – Texting, calling, and meeting up for lunch or coffee to make sure I’m nurturing the friendships I value.

Three years ago today, I jumped back into full-time work after taking a three-year break to stay at home with Shahzaib. And today, I’m taking another step back to spend more time with both my boys. As much as I love my work, it feels like it’s the right time to hit pause and enjoy these moments with them before they grow up too quickly. Fall is here, and I’m officially ready for all things cozy! It’s time to take out the fuzzy socks and oversized sweaters and snuggle up with all the warm blankets. Who else loves the season as much as I do?

There’s just something about fall that makes it my absolute favorite. Maybe it’s the crisp air, the warm drinks, or just the excuse to slow down and savor the little moments.

Here are my fall-time favorite activities:
Sipping on a cup of warm apple cider or hot chocolate
Getting cozy by the fireplace with a comfy blanket
Watching Hallmark movies once the kids are in bed
Enjoying a bowl of warm, delicious soup
Spending the day apple-picking with the family
Taking the boys to the pumpkin patch
Baking some yummy cranberry muffins
Bringing out all of our Fall decorations to make the home feel extra festive
